USA – -(Ammoland.com)- Behold this leading-bleeding scream piece from BMJ, formerly the British Medical Journal and formerly a respected source of scientific information for your doctor.
The journal has a history of free-wheeling condemnation of American gun owners, going so far as to advocate attacking their very culture. Throwing fuel on their own fire, BMJ editors evidently have now resorted to an old if not exactly honorable practice of hack journalism—printing the shocking and the scandalous, even if the truth gets roughed up in the process.
Florida’s Docs v. Glocks Law Protects Doctors’ Free Speech Rights
USA – -(Ammoland.com)- As the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals prepares for the latest round in the legal battle over Florida’s Firearm Owners’ Privacy Act (FOPA), one issue is being addressed in depth for the first time.
An amicus curiae brief just filed by the Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms shows the real reason that Floridians were outraged when an Ocala, Florida pediatrician in 2010 kicked a young mother and her baby out of his practice for daring to object to his inappropriate questioning about guns.

Recently I’ve written a lot about when an internal medicine specialist, a neurosurgeon, and I testified before the House Appropriations Committee recommending that Congress refuse to pay for gun control-motivated junk science. We had all independently become aware of and alarmed by the trend of medical journals and societies using their prestige to generate results-oriented research articles that all carried the same message – guns are like virus, and owning them is a disease.
Gun Violence or Violence?

We are talking today about ways that social workers can help prevent what some people call gun violence. But I ask you to consider that the discussion should be about “violence” and not “gun violence.”
MD Magazine Poll of Doctors Shows Majority Own Guns

USA – -(Ammoland.com)- MD Magazine, a New Jersey-based website for medical doctors, recently conducted a poll of 1,700 physicians (of whom 901 responded) on their views about guns.
Results were mixed but tended to strip away the false veneer of hoplophobia that the medical establishment perpetually tries to stick on us.
No one should rely on this poll as definitive. The sample population was limited to readers of MD Magazine, a major selection bias. The questions were poorly crafted and appear to demonstrate the prejudice and simple ignorance of the authors. Here I am being charitable, declining to attribute to these authors the sordid motives of other mainstream media people who deliberately conflate semiautomatic and fully automatic firearms, use the media buzzword “gun violence,” and otherwise seek to deceive their readers.
Volokh Conspiracy on Wollschlaeger – The Doctor’s Dissent
USA – -(Ammoland.com)- I was glad to see Professor Eugene Volokh weigh in on Wollschlaeger vs. Governor of Florida, concerning the so-called Docs vs Glocks law in Florida.
Curiously, to my knowledge none of our familiar Second Amendment constitutional law experts have discussed it at all before he recently did.
Volokh thinks the Court of Appeals erred in upholding Florida’s Firearm Owners Privacy Act (FOPA) and believes the law unduly limits doctors’ First Amendment right of free speech.
But I think the court was right.
Obama’s CNN Town Hall Disgrace
USA – -(Ammoland.com)- It was hard to stomach the entire one hour and eleven minutes of President Obama’s choreographed propaganda session “Guns in America” on CNN last Thursday night.
Still I felt obligated to watch it, because I knew it would hold insights into how far this president’s personal hatreds have pushed him on the gun issue. But I wasn’t ready for what else was to come—a full recognition of his utter contempt for the American people.
Obama has finally accepted that he no longer enjoys that exhilarating wind at his back that Abraham Lincoln famously called “public sentiment”. He has alarmed the American people with his disregard for their elected Congress, and by extension, of them. His response to the San Bernardino terrorist attack was not a pledge to defend America from terrorism, but a lecture to avoid discrimination against Muslims. And of course, a renewed attack on America’s tens of millions of gun owners.
Meddling Florida Doctors Lose, Gun Owners Win Again
USA – -(Ammoland.com)- Angry and frustrated gun prohibitionists across America seem to be boiling over these days.
The social activist Florida doctors who believe their medical degrees give them the right to attack the Second Amendment have just been dealt the latest in a series of humiliating defeats in federal court.
With a third decision, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit has clarified and reinforced its previous decisions and reaffirmed the constitutionality of Florida’s Firearm Owners Privacy Act (FOPA). The law prohibits doctors from asking patients about guns in their homes unless there is, in the doctor’s judgment, a good medical reason to do so. FOPA applies similar restrictions to documenting such conversations in the patient’s medical record.
