"The Heizer Defense Double Barrel Pistol and the Pocket Shotgun is being developed, engineered and refined by Heizer engineers. We have several patents pending that will be used in the manufacturing of firearms that will be shipped in 2013," said Tom Heizer of Heizer Defense.

This is a big deal because this pistol has technically been in production since late 2011 and due to a few bumps in the road the company has yet to actually churn a few out for consumers.

I'm not sure who to believe. Heizer and DoubleTap seemed like such a good couple. But they split up. And if that wasn't awkward enough, they both showed up at The SHOT Show this year with very similar .45 ACP derringers. Keeping all of this straight is getting to be difficult. But Heizer brought something else, a Pocket Shotgun.

The DoubleTap tactical derringer was supposed to have taken over the concealed carry market last year. This was to be the ideal deep cover gun, or a third-gun for a cop. This is the back-up gun's back-up gun. But production difficulties derailed the project, or so we thought. I'm happy to announce that the DoubleTap train is back on track.
