Warrenton, VA –-(Ammoland.com)- Windham Weaponry and Cabela’s Incorporated, the World’s Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, recently partnered on a cooperative program that will support Paralyzed Veterans of America-Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund (PVA-ORHF).

The program will donate a portion of the proceeds of each Windham Weaponry firearm purchased at any of Cabela’s 32 retail stores across the United States.

Windham Weaponry (www.windhamweaponry.com), based in Windham, Maine, designed a special edition AR platform firearm for exclusive distribution to Cabela’s, based in Sidney, Neb. An American flag will be etched on the lower receiver of each special edition firearm.

“We are honored to team up with Cabela’s to support PVA on this project to benefit our veterans in such a unique way,” said Mark Eliason, Windham Weaponry Vice President. “As proud Americans, we hope everyone will reach out in some meaningful way to help those who have sacrificed so much.”

The cooperative fundraising campaign, launched in January, is scheduled to run indefinitely. It is anticipated that the contribution from sales between Windham Weaponry and Cabela’s could raise more than $10,000 for ORHF (www.pvaheritagefund.org).

To promote and advertise the financial support of PVA ORHF, a unique dog tag will be hung on the special edition firearms. Be A Hero. Help A Hero.TM Dog Tags will be displayed on the firearms at Cabela’s.

“This is about recognizing the brave men and women who have gone above and beyond for their country,” said Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer Tommy Millner. “Cabela’s is proud to be a part of this project because it’s simply for a great cause.”

Windham Weaponry and Cabela’s will also promote the ORHF mission of empowering injured and wounded veterans to live a more satisfying and rewarding life by including ORHF marketing material in the AR packages, including an “Operation 100,000 Patriots” brochure, a “Support the Troops” magnetic bumper sticker and a “Thank You for Your Purchase” postcard.

The postcard will read: “Your purchase of this Windham Weaponry firearm from Cabela’s benefits our organization with a donation from Windham and Cabela’s. This donation will help America’s veterans heal, discover their abilities, gain confidence, build support networks and enjoy the outdoors. You are a true patriot! Thank you for your purchase. You helped a HERO!

The Paralyzed Veterans of America Outdoor Recreation Heritage Fund (PVA-ORHF), a 501(c)(3) was established in 2001 to provide financial support to PVA’s Sports and Recreation Program. PVA sponsors national competitions and training programs for all major wheelchair sports and is committed to providing continuing opportunities for the Nation’s wounded heroes to participate in “natural” rehabilitation activities—including archery, shooting, fishing and hunting. ORHF’s goal is to raise a $10 million dollar endowment to provide funding of PVA’s Sports and Recreation programs in perpetuity.

As America’s involvement in world conflicts continues, the need for “natural” rehabilitation and therapy grows. Recognizing that outdoor activities are at the top of America’s Wounded Heroes “wish lists,” ORHF hosts and sponsors events across the country. ORHF is actively seeking volunteers and partners who can help meet the growing need for more outdoor events to provide these valuable, healing opportunities.
