Monday morning city workers in O’Fallon, Illinois, just outside of St. Louis, discovered a deplorable sight. Sometime over the weekend, vandals targeted the O’Fallon City Veteran’s Monument. The memorials, which featured the names of Vietnam veterans etched in stone, had been knocked over and smashed.
To replace the cracked monuments will cost the city an estimated $10,000. Meanwhile, the O’Fallon Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) responsible.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the police department at (618) 624-4545. Callers can remain anonymous.
