Naperville, IL –-(Ammoland.com)- Texas Governor Rick Perry addressed over 500 members of the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) at its Annual Awards Dinner held on October 29 2013 at the Gaylord Texan Hotel in Grapevine, TX.

Governor Perry, a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and the firearms / shooting sports industry, was the featured speaker at the dinner which highlights awards to key suppliers in the hunting and shooting sports industry. His address kicked off the association’s 40th Annual Meeting and Expo celebration.

“There’s still a place that loves freedom in America, where people can pursue their dreams, free from knee-jerk government regulation. That place is called Texas,” Gov. Perry said.

“In Texas, we embrace the values of competition and a system that rewards innovation and hard work, and that applies to those who legally manufacture and sell guns as much as to any other business in America.”

As part of the evening’s festivities, Governor Perry took time from his busy schedule to speak personally with disabled veterans who were recent participants in a HAVA (Honored American Veterans Afield) shooting event held earlier in the week.

“We were especially pleased that the governor was able to spend some time with our Texas HAVA guests,” said Kent Williams. Chairman of the NASGW Board.

Gov. Perry is the 47th and current Governor. He served as Chairman of the Republican Governors Association in 2008 and again in 2011. He is also the longest serving governor in Texas state history.
