Troops parade for teen who beat cancer (VIDEO)

A 13-year-old boy who recently found out his cancer was in remission got a huge surprise last week when military troops showed up outside of his Dorchester, Massachusetts, home to honor him for fighting – and winning – his own battle.

More than a dozen servicemen and women paraded down the street in front of Christian Lopez’s home while carrying a banner that had a picture of Christian on it and read, “It Came. We Fought. I Won.”

Christian’s aunt, retired Master Sgt. Mariana Shorter, who organized the parade, could not contain her emotions as she presented him with an Army combat uniform of his own.

“We just wanted to thank Chris for battling one of the biggest battle ever in life,” Shorter said as she broke down in tears. “Chris, I salute you, you’re a true, true soldier.”

Christian, who was all smiles, saluted the soldiers and thanked them all for coming out.

Christian has been battling stage 4 cancer, but a scan earlier this month revealed no evidence of any remaining tumors.
