Available for a limited time and at a steep price point is TrackingPoint’s newly announced NightDragon rifle.

Chambered in 7.62 NATO, the NightDragon incorporates night vision, target tracking and image stabilization. The system can currently tackle targets up to 500 yards as well as track them up to 15 miles per hour.

“NightDragon is purpose-built for predator domination, hog eradication and homestead defense.  It allows for precision target elimination 24/7/365,” said John McHale, TrackingPoint’s chief executive officer, in a statement.

Considered a precision-guided firearm, the company boasts that shooters of any level can shoot better than the best shooters. The NightDragon also claims to incorporate the same tracking technology seen in fighter jets.

The package comes with TrackingPoint’s night vision kit, which retails at $2,495. Incorporating an infrared sensitive CMOS sensor, the system is able to detect light the human eye simply can’t. In conjunction with a strong IR illuminator, RapidLock technology allows the the target to acquire and track the target automatically as the shooter pulls the trigger. Overall total time to kill is approximately 2.5 seconds.

NightDragon retails at a lofty $15,490. However, TrackingPoint announced a lower price on the first set of units. The first 50 purchases will get the total package for $12,995. If the price is still too steep, it’s worth nothing that the company does offer financing for up to 48 months.

TrackingPoint is based out of Austin, Texas. The company specializes in purpose-built rifles for infantry soldiers and law enforcement. Promising to deliver on the company’s motto of extreme weapons for an extreme world, the NightDragon certainly appears to meet the promise of extreme.
