Tips to taming the tricky 75 round AK drum (VIDEO)

Introduced originally for the RPK light machine gun, the 75 round drum mag for that beast also works on just about every AK-47 platform known to man– provided you load it right.

These mags are growing in popularity as AKs are becoming more widespread than ever before and, with the federal AWB fading in the rearview, are back in the oh-so-sweet $60-$80 price range. Plus, as they don’t have any spring tension unlike box mags, can be used for long term storage while keeping your 7.62×39 good to go.

Bacon over at the VSO Gun Channel walks you through the process of winding the clockwork mag that on inside looks like something from a steampunk cos-player’s wet dream and does it like a pro.
