Austin, TX -(AmmoLand.com)- The Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA), the state’s largest firearms and shooting sports organization, denounces President Obama’s recent executive actions which target legal gun ownership.

“These executive actions taken by the Obama Administration are another sign that this Administration is more interested in vilifying law-abiding gun owners than actually trying to prevent criminals from getting their hands on firearms. Rather than point to the success in reducing violent crime over the past decade and reinforcing the need for strengthening the NICS system with additional agents, the executive actions are a test to circumvent the legislative process,” says Doug DuBois, Jr., executive director of the TSRA.

“The TSRA urges the Obama Administration to enforce the numerous laws already on the books – including fully prosecuting those who have attempted to purchase the ‘two million guns’ the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) has stopped. We will continue to represent the tens of thousands of law-abiding gun owners, sportsmen, and veterans who are members of the TSRA,” adds DuBois.

Founded in 1919, the Texas State Rifle Association is the largest firearms and shooting sports organization in Texas with nearly 40,000 members. TSRA is also the largest, award-winning state affiliate of the National Rifle Association and is sanctioned by the Civilian Marksmanship Program. As a part of its public education efforts, the association produces a full-color bimonthly publication, TSRA Sportsman, which updates members on current news, hunter education programs, shooting sports competitions, and important issues effecting their Second Amendment rights. The TSRA also hosts an annual meeting every February that features exciting fund-raising auctions, informative speakers, exhibitors, and other events.
