Testing Level III+ armor plate against antique rifles (VIDEO)

Eric with the IV8888 team breaks out and old Martini-Henry, a .577 Snyder conversion, a Matchlock and others to see what the man stoppers of yesteryear will do against the armor of today.

The plate up for testing is the AR500 ATC plate from Spartan Armor Systems. Rated at NIJ Level III+ it protects against 7.62mm full-metal jacketed bullets (U.S. military designation M80).

That’s nice.

How about a 480-grain lead solid .577 caliber pill over 85-grains of black powder? A matchlock? A Snyder cavalry carbine with a 500-grain Minie slug? Some 766-grain 10-gauge slugs?

A 37mm Parrott cannon?

Ooof.
