Teen robber shot after trying to steal sunglasses from CCL-holder (VIDEO)

A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot multiple times in Detroit while attempting to rob a man of his sunglasses Wednesday afternoon.

The would-be victim, Joe Lanier, 22, is an exterminator with a concealed carry license and was sitting in his car while working when the teen pulled a gun on him and demanded his sunglasses.

Not only did Lanier not hand over his belongings, but he opened fire on the suspect, firing a total of seven shots, according to Lanier’s mother, who is a firearms instructor and taught all of her sons handle a gun in a responsible manner and protect themselves.

The incident is still under investigation, but at this time no charges have been filed against Lanier, who summed up the case in three sentences.

“The boy tried to rob me, and I shot him. That’s what happened. That’s why he’s in the hospital and not me,” he told reporters.
