Teen accidentally shoots, kills friend while singing rap song (VIDEO)

Two young men were hanging out, listening to music and having a good time at a Brevard County, Florida, home when one of them got a little too into the lyrics of a rap song and apparently grabbed a gun, pointed it at his friend and pulled the trigger, not realizing it was loaded.

Douglas Winslow, 17, called the police claiming that the injury his friend sustained was self-inflicted.

“He shot himself in the head. I think he’d dead,” Winslow told the 911 dispatcher.

When police arrived on the scene, they found 22-year-old Rodney Patrick Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.

Investigators discovered that the evidence gathered from the scene wasn’t consistent with Winslow’s story. They also found the gun in a clothes hamper and that Winslow had attempted to dispose of the bullet casing.

The truth eventually came out.

“We’ve got a gun being waved around. We’ve got the safety being clicked on and off a loaded gun,” said Assistant State Attorney Gary Beatty. “A reasonable person knows or should know that action can result in someone’s death if the gun discharges.”

The teen, who is being held without bond, was arrested and is charged with manslaughter, tampering with evidence and possession of a controlled substance.
