Well-known as the training house where John Wick’s practical shooting techniques were taught, Taran Tactical suffered from a wildfire last week.
The storied Simi Valley facility, run by competition shooter Taran Butler, was a victim of what CalFire termed the Easy Fire, a fast-moving four-day blaze that left 1,806 acres burned and threatened the historic Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Butler, who posted the above video of the event on social media, said everyone physically made it through the fire but the facility itself is damaged. Butler said this is his seventh major fire including one in 2007 that claimed half of his house.
“One thing I can tell you if you ever deal with fire it’s never over when you think it’s over it’s literally like having Michael Myers, Jason, and Freddy Krueger, it just keeps coming back so never underestimate it,” Butler said in a post, following up with “we will rebuild and [be] back up and running soon, and God bless all the incredible firefighters that came out to save us.”
A notice on Taran Tactical’s homepage says they are in the process of recovering but are still “facing extreme technical difficulties as well.”
