Does size matter? Five long-slide 1911s say ‘yes’

While I prefer to carry a compact .45 ACP, I have a soft spot in my heart for cinematic long slide 1911s. That extra inch (or more) on the end of the barrel conveys a no-nonsense message. But is the extra inch just for looks, or is there something else driving the long slide craze?
