A man accused of kicking in the door to a Jacksonville, Florida, apartment Wednesday evening is behind bars after he was shot by the 19-year-old female resident.
Police say the teen was home alone when Kyle Williams, 21, starting kicking down the door. It was then that she grabbed a gun, and once Williams had successfully gained entry, the teen fired at Williams, striking him in the leg.
Williams fled the scene and took off in a black vehicle driven by another man. Soon thereafter, he showed up at a walk-in clinic seeking treatment for the gunshot wound. He was subsequently arrested and charged with burglary.
Police say the 19-year-old woman is fully cooperating with the investigation and is not facing charges. It’s unknown if the woman and Williams were previously acquainted.
