Streamlight expands ProTac tactical flashlight family

Flashlight manufacturer Streamlight announced two new additions to the ProTac series offering more capabilities in the handheld tactical light series.

The new lights, the ProTac HL-X and ProTac 2L-X, offer enhancements over their predecessors, featuring 500 and 1,000 lumens, respectively.

The upgraded versions are powered by either two 3-volt CR123 lithium batteries or one Streamlight rechargeable 18650 cell. The multi-battery option allows users to opt for disposable batteries if the rechargeable battery is out of power and no outlet is in sight.

Both flashlights are equipped with a TEN-TAP programmable switch, giving users the ability to switch among three modes. The HL-X provides high/strobe/low, high only or low/medium/high; while the 2L-X utilizes high/strobe/low, high only or low/high.

The ProTac HL-X is 5.43-inches in length and weighs 5.7 ounces with CR123 batters and 6.2 ounces with Streamlight’s battery. On high, the light delivers 1,000 lumens with a 330 meter beam distance and candela of 27,100. Run-time using the rechargeable battery is up to 1 hour and 30 minutes. On low, the light delivers 65 lumens with a beam distance of 80 meters and 1,600 candela. Run time bumps up to 23 hours on low. The battery can sustain the strobe mode for up to 3 hours and 15 minutes.  The HL-X retails for $135.

The ProTac 2L-X measures 5.14-inches long with a weight of 3.9 ounces with CR123 batteries and 4.4 ounces with Streamlight’s battery. On high, the flashlight provides 500 lumens, beam distance of 165 meters and candela of 6,800. With the rechargeable battery, the light lasts up to 3 hours and 15 minutes. On low, the light provides 40 lumens with a 49 meter beam distance and 600 candela. Run time on low is much higher, clocking in at 30 hours. The 2L-X retails for $85.

Both lights are waterproof up to one meter for 30 minutes and also impact-resistant up to two meters. They re packaged with two CR123 batteries, a removable pocket clip and holster. The rechargeable battery can be purchased separately.
