State releases 911 recordings of the Sandy Hook shooting (AUDIO)

The 911 calls from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting were made available to the public today.

The release of the 911 recording that was placed to the Newtown police department comes nearly a year after the great tragedy that left  20 children and six teachers dead. Prosecutors wanted the tapes to remain private, but after a legal challenge from the Associated Press, they were posted on a local Newtown website, New Haven Register reports.

The recordings come a week after the State of Connecticut released a detailed report and official documents on the incident.
