Featuring a number of upgrades from their standard Range Officer line, Springfield Armory has a quartet of new 1911s now shipping.

The new Range Officer Elite series– comprising the Elite Compact, Elite Champion, Elite Operator and Elite Target– are all available in either 9mm or .45ACP and are outfitted with custom thin-line G10 grips.

Other standard features in the Elite line not seen on legacy Range Officer models are self-lubricating, corrosion-resistant Black-T finishes, a new skeletonized Gen 2 trigger design, and an ambi thumb safety lever. The Compact, Operator and Champion models also have a tactical ledge rear and fiber optic front sights.

The smallest of the bunch, the Elite Compact, uses a 4-inch stainless steel match grade bull barrel to give an overall length of just 7.6-inches, making it a commander-style entry, complete with 6-round magazines. Weight is 28.5-ounces and MSRP is $1030.

The Elite Champion, like the Compact, uses a 4-inch barrel, but the frame is a half-inch higher and the grip accommodates full-sized 7-shot mags. MSRP is also $1030.

The Elite Operator is a full-sized 5-inch rail gun that uses a GI-style recoil system (the Compact and Champion above have full-length guide rods). The extra inch allows for slanted front slide serrations while the gun tips the scales at 41-ounces. MSRP is $1,145.
