A group of fifth-graders at the William H. Barton School in Queensbury, New York, recently got quite a surprise in the form of an unexpected visit from an Army sergeant with who they had been FaceTiming while he served in Afghanistan.
It was supposed to be the students’ last FaceTime session with Sgt. David Mulcahy, but instead of communicating via electronic means, Mulcahy showed up to their classroom.
Mulcahy said the surprise visit was the least he could do because the students, who sent Mulcahy and his crew care packages filled with candy, socks, and letters of encouragement, “did a lot for me and my guys over there.”
The fifth-graders, who were working on welcome home cards for Mulcahy when he arrived, said they were glad to see he made it home safe.
