Springfield, MA -(AmmoLand.com)- Smith & Wesson delivered congratulations to the winners of the 2016 NSSF Rimfire Challenge World Championships, held October 15-16th at the Cavern Cove Competition Range in Woodville, Alabama.

Smith & Wesson sponsored the premier rimfire event of 2016, where 250 competitors came together to test their skills. The Smith & Wesson factory team competed tirelessly for two days, finishing near the top of the roster. At the end of the day, however, they were bested by Kolby Pavlock, who delivered an impressive overall time of 167.00 seconds.

Shaun Phelan, Director of Smith & Wesson Sales & Marketing Operations, said, “Competitive shooting is one of the few activities where entire families, from parents to kids, can come together in a supervised setting to enjoy the spirit and comradery of competition. Rimfire shooting is one of the fastest growing firearm sports in the United States and we are excited that our Smith & Wesson SW22 Victory pistol and our M&P 15-22 rifle are providing new participants with the opportunity to join in these exciting events.”

In an effort to attract attendees and competitors to rimfire shooting, Smith & Wesson offered a “Demo Day” event at the match. Phelan led a team of seasoned Pro Staffers that brought firearms to the event and coached participants on marksmanship techniques and competition strategy. More than one hundred enthusiastic participants got a chance to shoot the SW22 Victory pistol and the new M&P 15-22 SPORT MOE SL rifle.

Match Director, Jeff Blackwell said, “It is important that manufacturers offer demo days at our events, and Smith & Wesson is the latest to make this happen. Participating consumers have the opportunity to try out the newest products first-hand on the range and speak directly to factory representatives. That creates a grass roots interaction that engages new shooters and ultimately expands competitions like the Rimfire Challenge.”
