USA – -(Ammoland.com)- Should black Men continue to “Conceal Carry” in America?
I realize that the question itself might invoke anger within the Black Community. What really is being asked and stated is that Black men for some reason don’t qualify or deserve the full benefits of the Constitution and can’t exercise their 2nd Amendment Rights. ………
I am one of those Black Men that conceal carry and feel the social pressure…you know the typical stuff a thousand Black men have to endure daily.
Walking down the street in a suit at night to my car with my Glock 19 under my Suit Coat to protect myself but yet I am still perceived as the “threat”. When I walk people lower their heads and pick up their steps quickly to get to their car, or when getting on an elevator only to see a woman clutch her purse tighter. With this public perception of us as men too often dangerous interactions of Law Enforcement with African American men have ended badly in death for those African American men. We are never seen as the good citizen always a threat……and never ….never get the benefit of the doubt.
I want Black Men to be safe so my question isn’t to insult but I want us to start an honest and balanced discussion of how we can solve this. What is the safest course of action living in the current society for us ?
My belief is to never deny yourself the 2nd Amendment…..when you do that you automatically reduce yourself to a “Discounted Citizen”. The focus should turn to those individuals or institutions that fail to treat all citizens equally in the eyes of the law. It’s the classic case of blaming the victim for being attacked because in some kind of way they deserved the attack and thereby it is justified. (IE; The Rapist saying the girl’s dress was too tight or the Violent Male beating his wife and then blaming her because she didn’t’ cook him a meal.)
We all have heard the quotes,”He looked Scary”, and the worst one yet “I feared for my Life”.
I personally refuse to hide my gun and my rights because I stand on the shoulders of my ancestors who died for me to have these rights. I am a full citizen
As is it stands now Black Men + Guns = Bad, I want to change the equation to Black Men + Guns equals Good . I am not a mathematician but this will be the hardest equation for America to solve…
