San Diego, Calif. –-(Ammoland.com)- The February edition of Shooting Industry magazine focuses on how to increase sales in the personal defense market, discusses the dramatic increase in retailer acceptance of Internet transfers — and asks dealers what new products they think will be best sellers in 2012.

“Intruders aren’t necessarily going to be intimidated by a handgun,” explains Dennis Rohman of P2K Range in El Cajon, Calif., which makes matching customers with the right firearm for their personal defense needs of paramount importance. Training and education, along with add-on sales, are what keep business booming in the personal defense market. Additionally, women are increasingly concerned with their safety, a market not to be ignored.

A recently conducted survey of over 300 firearms retailers found a dramatic increase in retailer willingness to perform firearm transfers required for online sales in recent years. Nearly 95 percent of retailers perform transfers, earning millions in fees and add-on sales. Read more about this growing trend — and those who don’t believe online transfers are advantageous — in “Internet Transfers: Worth It?”

Shooting Industry is conducting its own survey with the February issue, asking dealers what 2012 new products they think their customers will make best sellers in 2012. The online survey — available at www.shootingindustry.com — is now open, and results will be published in an upcoming issue.

“An incredible number of new products are being introduced this year. However, which ones are really going to sell? Firearm dealers are the ones who have to close the deal on the sale of all these ‘revolutionary’ new products. Their opinions are valuable, and we’d like to hear from them,” said Russ Thurman, Shooting Industry’s publisher and editor.

The February issue offers dealers tips on how to optimize their turkey hunting sales, with balanced inventories and promotions to pull in consumers. A review of the 2011 NASGW Expo & Annual Meeting also appears in the February issue.
