Ryan Zinke’s confirmation vote for Secretary of the Interior scheduled for next week

A full Senate confirmation vote on Sen. Ryan Zinke’s nomination for Secretary of the Interior has been scheduled for next week, and the National Rifle Association and the National Shooting Sports Foundation are supporting him all the way.

Both the NRA and NSSF are urging concerned citizens to contact their U.S Senators in support of Zinke.

Chris Cox, executive director of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action, voiced his support in a recent opinion piece in Roll Call.

“The five million men and women of the National Rifle Association are eager to see Rep. Ryan Zinke confirmed as the 52nd Secretary of the Interior. His confirmation will mark the end of an era of hostility toward hunters and sportsmen at the Interior Department.”

“As a native Montanan, Zinke has a deep appreciation for wildlife and conservation,” Cox continued. “In addition, he understands the importance of public land access for all hunters and outdoorsmen.”

The NSSF has also sung high praise for Zinke, who called himself an “unapologetic admirer of Teddy Roosevelt” during his hearing before the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.

At the same hearing, Zinke vowed to do what is right for future generations regarding public land use and maintenance.

“They’re not making anymore land,” Zinke said.  “We need to — we need to make sure what we’re doing is appropriate. We need to make sure that clean air, clean water, those type of things. Again, so, my daughter’s children will look back and say we did it right. I think that has to be a goal that we all share.”
