Wearing motorcycle helmets and armed with axes, two suspects broke into an upscale Manchester jewelry store Thursday afternoon.
The smash and grab, which was captured on the store’s security cameras, landed the suspects about 200,000 GBP — or over $300,000 — worth of watches, all except one of which were solid gold. The loot also included a Rolex embellished with diamonds and sapphires on the watch face.
After the robbery, the two suspects fled on a moped.
“The main opportunity for officers now is going to be tracking the offenders when they try to sell the watches,” a police spokesman said.
“They will inevitably look to off-load them and we are talking about rare timepieces that are both very expensive and quite recognizable.”
