New Berlin, Wis. –-(Ammoland.com)- Renowned sportsman and conservationist Beau Turner is bringing his knowledge and unique talents exclusively to Sportsman Channel, the leader in outdoor TV for the American Sportsman, with the debut of his new original series, Beau Knows Outdoors.

The weekly half-hour series is being produced by Warm Springs Productions and will premiere in July, 2011.

Hosting his first television series, Turner, the son of CNN founder and philanthropist Ted Turner, promises viewers a new type of outdoors program focusing not only on world-class hunting and fishing, but land conservation and management issues as he oversees Turner Enterprises’ more than two million acres. Beau Knows Outdoors will also have a strong focus on youth participation and recruitment.

Beau Knows Outdoors blends Beau’s passions—world-class hunting, land management/conservation and youth participation—for a unique television experience. The show will give viewers a front-row seat as Beau travels throughout the country managing his family’s two million-plus acres of land and embarks on world-class hunting and fishing expeditions – usually with family and friends in tow, including his famous father. Along the way, Beau Knows Outdoors pursues and highlights the importance of land management and conservation, and he shines a light on the importance of youth outdoors involvement and recruitment.

“This is one of the most ambitious and eagerly anticipated projects in the history of our network,” said Gavin Harvey, CEO of Sportsman Channel. “As the leader in outdoor television programming, we are always looking for unique content for our passionate viewers. We have found that, and more, with Beau Turner and his new series. We are pulling out all the stops with aerial shots of Turner’s Ranch, which have never been on TV before. This is truly a ‘behind-the-scenes’ experience that outdoor enthusiasts and fans of the Turner family will enjoy.”

“I really want the viewers – especially our youth – to discover, learn and truly experience all the outdoors has to offer,” said Beau Turner. “My ultimate goal is to not only deliver thrilling hunting and fishing experiences in some of our country’s most beautiful settings, but to highlight the importance of conserving our precious land and wildlife resources and draw attention to the immediate need to involve youth in outdoor activities. I want viewers to feel my passion through each and every episode.”

Beau Knows Outdoors has already begun shooting for the series including several archery hunts in New Mexico, Kansas and Montana; an appearance at a recently opened Ted’s Montana Grill in Boulder, Colo. and behind-the-scenes footage of Beau at work on the Turner’s Flying D Ranch.

Each episode will feature a “Beau Knows” segment in which he’ll talk about hot-button outdoors issues, including property management and conservation, youth recruitment/participation, embracing adventure, endangered species populations and conservation, to name a few. Additionally, the series will highlight the importance of introducing our nation’s youth to the outdoors, as Beau takes children from his namesake Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center for adventures in the great outdoors.

ABOUT BEAU TURNER:
Beau Turner is involved in numerous charitable organizations related to environmental conservation and preservation around the world. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Turner Endangered Species Fund and is the Director of Natural Resources and Biodiversity for Turner Enterprises, Inc., the land-holding group for the Turner Family. Among Beau’s challenges is the directive to balance a strong concern and ethic for environmental protection with several for-profit ventures, including the largest bison operation in the world. He serves as a Trustee for the Turner Foundation, Inc., a private family foundation that focuses on environmental and population-related causes, and serves on the boards of the Jane Smith Turner Foundation, the Captain Planet Foundation, the Wetlands America Trust and the Peregrine Fund. He is also a council member for the Jim Range Conservation Fund, and he also works closely with numerous outdoors and environmental groups. Beau’s greatest passion is getting young people outdoors and excited about nature and the environment. To help achieve this goal, he founded the Beau Turner Youth Conservation Center (BTYCC) near his home in Florida in 2008. The BTYCC is a place where children are encouraged to be active outdoors. They learn about conservation, interact with nature, acquire fishing, archery, hunting and camping skills and study alternative energy sources (the center is powered primarily by solar panels). Currently, Beau is working on growing the youth center concept and developing the BTYCC into a model for similar centers nationwide.
