DOVER – -(Ammoland.com)- Registration is open now for the 2016 Delaware Wetlands Conference Feb. 3 and 4 at the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington.

Online registration and information about the event including sponsorships is available at http://de.gov/dewetlandsconference. Interested parties may register for one or both days. Discounted rates are available through Dec. 22 2015 for early-bird registration. Registration closes Jan. 27 2016.

DNREC’s Wetland Monitoring and Assessment Program and the Coastal Training Program have put together a full two-day event that showcases the importance of wetlands. Each day includes keynote speakers, workshops, poster sessions, lunches and a total of 54 concurrent sessions that cover wetland restoration, climate change, mapping, education and outreach, planning and conservation and plants and animals.

More than 300 wetland experts and enthusiasts from the tristate area are expected to gather at the biennial conference to share the latest innovations in wetland research, outreach and conservation programs in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The conference brings together scientists, planners, county and federal representatives, community leaders, educators and natural resource managers to discuss current research on tidal and non-tidal wetlands, the value of Delaware’s wetlands and the impact their management has on the community.

“Wetlands play a vital role in our everyday lives, protecting our communities from flooding and erosion, and boosting our economy through tourism and the seafood industry,” said Brittany Haywood, Wetland Monitoring & Assessment Program outreach coordinator.

“It is important that we continue to foster an atmosphere that supports the exploration and dissemination of wetlands science, and this conference has a history of doing just that. This two-day event is packed with information and networking opportunities that will enhance wetland project sharing and collaboration in Delaware and beyond.”
