Corona, CA –-(Ammoland.com)- Forrest and Charlotte Lucas’s agriculture initiative “Protect The Harvest” (PTH) is donating $5,000 to the Missouri Farmers Care (MFC) campaign to help combat childhood food insecurity.

The “Drive to Feed Kids” will leverage food bank distribution networks to deliver kid-friendly meals to hungry children across Missouri. The Drive is led by Missouri Farmers Care, Feeding Missouri, Brownfield Ag News, the Missouri State Fair and Missouri Future Farmers of America (FFA).

MFC representatives say that even in the nation’s agricultural heartland hunger is a problem. Missouri’s rate of childhood food insecurity is among the highest in the nation. Hunger isn’t restricted to children, either. In rural communities throughout the state as many as 1 in 5 people face food insecurity. Among children, the numbers are even higher. In parts of Missouri, 1 in 3 children face food insecurity on a regular basis.

Forrest and Charlotte Lucas are the founders of Lucas Oil, Inc., the fastest-growing oil products company in the nation, but take a keen interest in agriculture political policy through their PTH initiative. They are also involved with raising beef cattle in Missouri at their Lucas Cattle Company located on the Ozark Plateau. The facility strives to supply cattlemen across the nation with the finest Simmental genetics available anywhere.

“Extreme special interests in America have evolved into a successful attack on the entire agriculture industry,” Forrest Lucas said. “The result is an America that is less free and less prosperous, with reduced access to affordable food. We are very pleased to join with MFC to help alleviate this growing problem.”

Protect The Harvest was created to defend and preserve the freedoms of American consumers, farmers, ranchers, outdoor enthusiasts and animal owners.
