Popping the bubbly from 65 feet with a 1873 Winchester

Members of the Hungarian muzzleloading club decided to test out their Uberti-repro 1873 Winchester lever gun to see if they could pop the cork off their New Years champagne.

Their smokepole of choice is a breechloader. They used hand loaded .44-40 cartridge with a 240-grain lead bullet over a black powder load which seems able to do the job of nipping the cork off without otherwise damaging the potent potable insideā€¦other than allowing half of it to pour out into the berm.

Anyway, Happy New Year!
