Carlisle, PA -(Ammoland.com)- Aside from promoting automotive-themed events as well as the Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Show, helping others is something Carlisle Events is passionate about.

Annually the company makes charitable donations or hosts activities that benefit organizations in need. This year, as part of the outdoor- themed weekend, September 5-7 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, the red carpet is rolled out once more as the PA Outdoor Writers Association (POWA) host their annual benefit auction.

The auction is being held at Carlisle for the second consecutive year and takes place on the final day of the 2014 event, Sunday, September 7.

With items coming in daily, it’s nearly impossible to regularly update what will be available for the auction, but needless to say, once the auction does take place, the future of the sports and outdoor world will greatly benefit. This auction, as it has for years, allows for the PA Outdoor Writers Association to use all proceeds for youth educational programs and youth introduction to the outdoors. Proceeds may help a young enthusiast buy a bow, camouflage for hunting excursions, boots, a seat in a hunter’s safety course and more. In the meantime, as the auction takes shape, donations are being sought for inclusion.

Anyone interested in making a donation should contact the PA Outdoor Writers Association directly at 717-766-4834 as the auction is run entirely from donations made by individuals and businesses.

To date, marquee items have come via donation from the Smith & Wesson Gun Company and award-winning wild life artist Gerald Putt. S&W has provided a bolt action rifle with a .308 caliber, 22” barrel and a weather shield composite stock. Details can be found via the company’s web page. For those looking to adorn their wall with something unique, Putt has provided an original painting.

Further, there is additional art available, plus a charter fishing trip with Jamie Hughes, “The Catfish Queen,” of Breakline Charters. Additional items will be secured at the event and in the weeks leading up to it. Apparel and accessories will also be auctioned and once more, anyone looking to donate items should contact the PA Outdoor Writer’s Association.

“We are very proud of the fact that we have raised over $400,000 in past auctions and every penny has gone to kids,” noted Kermit Henning of the PA Outdoor Writers Association. “These funds have introduced thousands of young people to the outdoors through activities like conservation camps, field days, fishing derbies, shooting events and many more. I want to personally thank all the individuals, groups and companies who have donated items to the auctions. We appreciate that they support our efforts to get kids outdoors.”

In addition to the auction, the weekend features dog demonstrations, snake and wild life shows, unique competitions, seminars and representation from some of the top names in the hobby. A complete list of all weekend activities is available online via Carlisle Sports Outdoor. Finally, anyone interested in being a sponsor, vendor or guest can call 717-243-7855 for more information.
