Pelosi’s Due Process Concerns for Conyers Don’t Extend to Gun Owners

Does anyone think these two are concerned about due process for gun owners when dreaming up new prior restraints on the right to keep and bear arms? (Nancy Pelosi/John Conyers – Facebook)

USA – -(Ammoland.com)- House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi urged “due process” for sexual abuse allegations against Rep. John Conyers during an appearance on “Meet the Press,” NBC News reported Sunday.

“John Conyers is an icon in our country. He has done a great deal to protect women [with the] Violence against Women Act,” Pelosi argued. She was warning against drawing conclusions until all facts are known. “We are strengthened by due process. Just because someone is accused — and was it one accusation? Is it two?”

Pelosi’s first assertion about the old collectivist being an icon is debatable. But she’s absolutely right to call for full due process before deciding accusations are true. And she’s absolutely inconsistent and hypocritical in defending Democrat Conyers, Al Franken and Bill Clinton while calling Republican Roy Moore “a child molester.”

Incidentally, during the interview she repeated the lie that the Clinton impeachment was just about sex. The president had committed perjury in a legal case to deny justice to a woman, Paula Jones, who claimed he had sexually harassed her.

Pelosi also has no problem ignoring due process when it comes to enacting citizen disarmament edicts. Case in point, she’s a big supporter of so-called ”No Fly/No Buy” to deny guns to Americans who have not even been charged with a crime, let alone convicted of one. And unsurprisingly to those who have come to expect nothing but illogic and lies from her, she claims that does not have “anything to do with the Second Amendment. I think it has everything to do with our oath of office…”

“Legal” weasel-wording notwithstanding, all infringements that deny people their right to keep and bear arms are due process violations. And Conyers joins Pelosi in being a prime denier.

Curiously, in 2014 it was a reported the Conyers campaign had hired a convicted home invader with an outstanding assault warrant to collect petitions to get the congressman’s name on the ballot. And in a life-imitates-art reenactment of the old “Take my wife, please” gag, we mustn’t forget how Monica Conyers threatened to shoot an aide to then-Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick (before the anti-gun Kilpatrick’s own felony conviction). That was after she got into a bar fight but before she became a prohibited person for taking bribes.

Unsurprisingly, it looks like all Pelosi’s talk about “due process” was just window dressing, and she’s really just trying to figure the best way to throw him under the bus without enraging his constituents and the Congressional Black Caucus.

Ordinary Americans see things in the news like a secret slush fund to finance settlements for lawmakers accused of sexual harassment and shake their heads in disgust. It’s a pretty natural reaction to wonder why people who can’t – or more likely won’t – control themselves are so bent on controlling us.
