PacSun pulls flag t-shirt following controversy

Clothing retailer Pacific Sun has stopped selling a controversial t-shirt and issued an apology after massive backlash.

A customer at the Tanger Outlets store in Foley, Alabama, noticed the t-shirt, which features an upside down American flag, at the entrance of the store over Memorial Day weekend. The enraged customer captured a photo of the display and posted it to the PacSun Facebook page, calling it both distasteful and disrespectful.

Less than a day later, the store pulled the shirt and posted an apologetic statement on their Facebook page.

As a retailer grounded in youth culture, PacSun values artistic and creative expression through the brands that we sell in our stores. Out of respect for those who have put their lives on the line for our country, we have decided to stop selling the licensed flag t-shirt and are removing it from our stores and website immediately. We thank the men and women in uniform for their extraordinary service.
