Open Carry March on Washington D.C. Builds Steam (VIDEO)

A libertarian radio host has mustered gun rights advocates across the nation to march on Washington D.C. on July 4 as part of an open carry demonstration that could bring thousands of loaded firearms to the nation’s capital.

Coordinated by libertarian radio host and former Marine Adam Kokesh, the “Open Carry March on Washington,” is hoping to rally upwards of 10,000 demonstrators. Although Kokesh and his supporters will be effectively breaking D.C. law regarding openly carried firearms, their goal is to show “in the subtlest way possible that [the demonstrators] would rather die on our feet than live on our knees.”

According to Kokesh’s Facebook page,

“[The demonstrators] will march with rifles loaded & slung across our backs to put the government on notice that we will not be intimidated & cower in submission to tyranny…this will be a non-violent event, unless the government chooses to make it violent. Should we meet physical resistance, we will peacefully turn back, having shown that free people are not welcome in Washington…”

One thousand adventurous souls have already RSVP’d the inevitably caustic demonstration which will commence at the National Cemetery and culminate before the White House.

Despite its claim to be a “non-violent event,” Kokesh warned of a “remote chance,” of physical violence in lieu of a law enforcement crackdown.
