Officer escorts lost, elderly woman on scooter back home (VIDEO)

FOX 29 News Philadelphia | WTXF-TV

Law enforcement officers never known what they may come across while out on patrol, and for one Washington state officer, he encountered an elderly woman who was on a motorized scooter riding down the highway.

Dave Hintz, who has been in law enforcement for over 20 years, said he happened upon the unidentified 80-year-old woman Tuesday in Lynden. She had gone out for coffee, but on her way back somehow ended up on the wrong street, miles from her home and traveling in the wrong direction. She was lost and only moving about six miles per hour when the officer noticed her.

Hintz, who said the act was simply part of his responsibilities as an officer, gave her a police escort to ensure she was able to get back home safely.
