Off-duty detective reels in huge bag of cocaine while fishing

Florida coast cocaine

A detective, who was off-duty at the time, was fishing in his boat off of the Florida coast last week when he reeled in a huge 50-pounder… brick of cocaine, that is.

The Charlotte County deputy, whose name is not being released, first spotted the package floating in the distance, about 20 miles from the shore, and when he got closer, discovered the package contained 25 bricks of uncut powdered cocaine. Altogether, the bricks totaled 50 pounds and had a street value of around $10 million.

The bricks were turned over to federal authorities, who are working to determine where the cocaine originated.
