USA – -(Ammoland.com)- To the fury of gun rights advocates nation-wide, the liberal New York Times seized on this opportunity to write an editorial criticizing calls for allowing more responsible Americans to protect themselves through less restrictive gun laws.

In it, they seemingly acknowledge the reasoning from those on the right, then issue a stark warning about the scary “type of society,” that these rights would create.

This comes as Republican members of Congress seized on the brazen daytime shooting of their colleagues on Wednesday to demand that existing restrictions on gun access be loosened so that people facing similar attacks are able to defend themselves.

“The scare tactics used by the New York Times in the wake of a tragedy are both disgusting and shockingly tone-deaf,” said Tim Schmidt, President & Founder of the United States Concealed Carry Association.

“They do not seem to understand that gun rights advocates across the country are fighting to stop the tragedies like the one that happened yesterday by arming responsible Americans and training them how to properly defend themselves against would-be shooters.”

“We hope in the days to come, Americans will realize the need for more responsibly armed citizens, not less.”

The U.S. Concealed Carry Association (USCCA) provides education, training and self-defense insurance to responsible American gun owners. Headquartered in West Bend, WI, the USCCA is the largest and fastest-growing association whose sole focus is the responsibly armed American. www.usconcealedcarry.com
