Ted Nugent speaks his mind about celebrities — like Kanye West, Jay-Z and Stevie Wonder — boycotting states that have a “Stand Your Ground” law during an interview on The Andrea Tantaros Show, said The Daily Caller.
Most notably, Stevie Wonder recently refused to perform in Florida, as punishment for their “Stand Your Ground” law. He extended his boycott to any other state where the law exists in protest to the shooting death of Trayvon Martin by acquitted George Zimmerman. Ironically, he did this while in Quebec, Canada, where people are permitted to use lethal force in self-defense situations if they feel it is justified, having no duty to retreat.
Nugent responded to Wonder while on The Andrea Tantaros Show, accusing him of being in a “fog of denial” from a “lifetime of substance abuse.”
Nugent vehemently continued, “You can pretend that by boycotting a single city with a ‘Stand Your Ground’ law that somehow you don’t have to boycott Chicago, where 700 people are slaughtered every year because they’re not standing their ground — they’re left out of their cages to commit more brutal murders and rapes and carjackings and slaughters of innocent victims.”
Considering the alternative to defending yourself in a life-threating situation, Nugent said, “What’s the opposite of stand your ground? Give up! You’ve just got to be kidding me.”
Tantaros closed with a question, “Do you think these celebrities should sign a pledge to get rid of their armed body guards? Because their body guards protect them. Should they promise not to have armed guards standing their ground too?”
Good question. I Wonder what they’d say.
