Colion Noir with NRA News celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. by examining the cultural progress spurred by his actions.
Noir compares and contrasts the stark differences in civil rights since MLK’s works. He talks of how the late King would likely envy him for being able to attain a concealed carry permit, when MLK had been denied.
“I, a young black male living in the heart of the South, whose house was never firebombed, and has never received death threats, was granted a concealed handgun license, yet he, who encountered all of these things, was denied,” Noir said.
Noir thinks that overall King would appreciate how far the nation has come since his assassination on April 4, 1968, but would still be pushing for even greater advancements.
“If he were to spend this day looking over America and assessing how much of his dream has come to fruition, I can’t help but think he wouldn’t be completely satisfied, but he would be pleased with how much progress we’ve made as a nation.”
