An imprisoned Norwegian mass murder responsible for dozens of deaths from a 2011 shooting spree has embarked on a hunger strike until he receives a PlayStation 3 in his cell, because the PlayStation 2 he currently has is simply far too antiquated.
Andres Behring was arrested after he killed 77 people in 2011. While incarcerated, he has been able to play a PlayStation 2 in his cell, but recently said being forced to game on the outdated system is “torture,” and will not eat again until he sees the like of the more sophisticated PlayStation 3, Death and Taxes reports.
Behring claimed he prepared for his mass killings by playing “Call of Duty,” a first-person-shooter game aimed to emulate a battlefield, and is upset he does not have access to similar adult games while in prison.
“Other inmates have access to adult games while I only have the right to play less interesting kids games,” he wrote in the letter published by the AFP. “One example is ‘Rayman Revolution,’ a game aimed at three-year-olds.”
Perturbed by not being treated as an adult, Behring listed 12 conditions that must be met before he will eat again, one of which was that he be treated more humanely.
“The hunger strike won’t end until the Minister of Justice (Anders) Anundsen and the head of the KDI (the Norweigian Correctional Services) stop treating me worse than an animal,” he wrote.
Once Behring learns of the mighty processing power of the PS4, his hunger strikes may extend indefinitely.
