BISMARCK, NORTH DAKOTA —-(Ammoland.com)- Nate Stumpf, chairman of the Agassiz 4-Curls Chapter in Fargo, North Dakota, is Delta Waterfowl’s 2016 Volunteer of the Year. He topped a field of seven finalists during a month-long, online vote.
“Stumpf’s pride for big fundraising results and mentoring area youth is priceless,” said Scott Terning, regional events director for Delta Waterfowl. “Yet even with the accomplishments that he has helped the committee achieve, Nate remains incredibly humble and wants everyone to share in the chapter’s local accomplishments. Delta is extremely fortunate to have him and other chapter volunteers involved at the local level.”
Stumpf has led a committed group of chapter volunteers who partner with the Cass County Wildlife Federation to host a mentored youth day and hunt. The event attracts 50 to 70 participants each year. In addition, the chapter has formed a partnership with the Oak Grove High School Trap Shooting Team, and awards two $750 scholarships to area high school students. The chapter also consistently holds successful fundraising events each spring, benefitting both local conservation efforts and Delta’s mission to produce ducks and secure the future of waterfowl hunting in North America.
For Terning, such achievements demonstrate Stumpf’s outstanding leadership.
“Nate is very energetic in spreading the message of Delta Waterfowl,” Terning said. “He has established a strong local campaign to help recruit volunteers, and he has a natural sales talent that has driven chapter growth since he took over as chapter chairman.”
A sales executive in the oil industry, Stumpf lives in Mapleton, North Dakota, with his wife, Kerri, sons, Kaleb and Boe, and black Lab, Leica.
“The Volunteer of the Year Award means a lot to me personally, but it’s much cooler that the title honors the committee members who made it happen,” Stumpf said. “I started with the chapter as a junior in college, and this award is awesome national recognition for all we’ve accomplished in our community over the past 10 years. I’m also humbled to have been selected out of Delta’s many selfless volunteers.”
Thanks to Lowe Boats, sponsoring partner of the Volunteer of the Year Award, Stumpf will receive a Lowe Roughneck 1756 — a 17-foot, camouflaged, all-welded, all-aluminum johnboat — plus a trailer.
Delta Waterfowl is growing, and currently has 380 chapters throughout North America. In annually naming a Volunteer of the Year, Delta celebrates the thousands of passionate, committed people across the United States and Canada who make its work possible.
