North Carolina homeowner grabs AR-15, shoots armed intruder during firefight (VIDEO)

A North Carolina homeowner grabbed his AR-15 and shot an intruder that kicked in his door Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 9:45 a.m. when the intruder knocked on Jonathan Haith’s front door. Thinking it was just neighborhood kids playing around, he ignored it. Moments later there was a loud bang in the laundry room, so Haith grabbed the AR-15 he keeps under his bed and went to check the scene.

There was an exchange of gunfire and the intruder was hit and then fled on foot. He ran across the street, where he collapsed in a church parking lot.

The suspect’s accomplice was parked outside Haith’s residence, but sped away when he saw his partner wounded and running.

But Vance County police arrested the suspect and were able to catch up with the accomplice as well.

Investigators have yet to release details of the shooting, including the names of the criminals involved.
