Noise complaint ends with cops on Slip ’N Slide (VIDEO)

Two police officers became internet sensations for their reaction to a noise complaint in Asheville, North Carolina, over the weekend.

The call came in Sunday during a 4th of July block party.

“The officers got there and people were like, ‘Oh my gosh, the cops are here. They’re going to shut us down,’ but they noticed the noise was fine. It was literally the sound of kids playing,” explained public information officer Christina Hallingse. “The Slip ‘N Slide they noticed was so far off the street that cars and emergency vehicles could still pass through so it was perfectly fine and they decided to join in on the fun. There were no citations issued.”

Moments after arriving on the scene, Officer Carrie Lee asked for a garbage bag.

“When the female officer asked for a garbage bag, we almost didn’t believe it. But she took off her radio and went for it,” recalled neighborhood resident Katlen Joyce Smith. “They told us to have a great day, posed for some pictures and thanked us for the fun!”

Lee slid down first and Officer Joe Jones thought, because he couldn’t fit in a garbage bag, he could skip on without a turn.

“But then a little boy ran and got a big raft,” Hallingse said with a laugh.

And, as it turned out, Jones set the Slip ’N Slide record, being the only person to successfully slide all the way from top to bottom.

At the end of the record-breaking slide, Jones can be seen laughing as he said, “My butt is wet.”

Travis Eagledove, a nearby resident who captured the Slip ’N Slidin’ cops on video, said the officers has “such good energy” and “the kids were loving it.”
