Ravenwood, MO – -(Ammoland.com)- Bird Hunters United: Tell us about your dog?

Jake is a 5 year old English Setter out of Speck, a Tekoa Mountain Sunrise bred dog I owned and Faith, a bitch out of my 7 time NSTRA champion Dakota.

BHU: What kind of gun do you use?

A 20 gauge Beretta Urika 391 or 20 gauge Beretta O/U

BHU: What was the toughest challenge becoming Amateur Champion?

Keeping your dogs conditioned and on birds.

BHU: What other dog activities do you enjoy?

Wild bird hunting.

BHU: Who’s helped you the most?

Many, but probably Harold Adams the most. Over the years his seminars and training video’s
have set a foundation for many handlers and trainers. A day spent one on one with Harold
training bird dogs is very rewarding.

Judging field trials has made me a better handler. judging some of the best dogs and handlers
in the country will give you a different perspective, you can really learn from the best our sport
has to offer.

BHU: Has BHU made you and your dog better hunter’s, if so how?

Competition drives you and your dog to do better.

BHU: With the AC on your CKC pedigree you now have a proven gun dog worthy of breeding. Any
plans in the future on breeding?

Not at this time.

BHU: In your words, what is a champion handler and dog in BHU?

A dog and handler that consistently perform well.

BHU: Wrapping it up.

BHU has a great group of dogs and handlers, it’s always a good time. I think one
thing all of us should remember to do is to thank the judges and bird planters. They
do a lot of work so that the rest of us can play and we also need to thank the landowners
that provide the fields for our trials, we sure can’t have a trial without them.

Congrats to AC Jake and Mark
