NC authorities seize $20K in heroin, coke, and guns (VIDEO)

A 10-month investigation in Northampton County, North Carolina, resulted in a massive seizure of heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine last week, along with multiple guns, cars, and cash.

Authorities are calling it a win in the war against drugs.

“This opiate drugs is an epidemic,” said Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith. “We all hear about it everyday and somewhere in this tri-county area, someone dies from it.”

Altogether, authorities collected 78 bricks of heroin, 5.3 ounces of cocaine, 4.2 ounces of crack cocaine, a handgun, an AK-47, and five cars. Deon Flood, 22, was arrested on drug trafficking charges, but was released from jail after posting a $525,000 bond.

Smith called Flood a “high-level drug dealer.”

The investigation that led to Flood’s arrest was conducted by a task force that was created last year in response to a significant rise in heroin use in the area, but authorities say things are starting to look up.

“For one time, I can truly stand here and say I really feel that we are actually winning on the streets against this drug war,” added Bertie County Sheriff John Holley.
