Washington, DC -(AmmoLand.com)- The Land Trust Alliance, a national land conservation organization working to save the places people love by strengthening land conservation across America, will convene the nation’s largest gathering of land conservation leaders Oct. 8 in Sacramento, Calif.

Rally 2015: The National Land Conservation Conference continues through Oct. 10 at the Sacramento Convention Center Complex.

“At a moment when our nation is experiencing heartbreaking wildfires, extreme weather patterns and uncertainty about tomorrow, land conservation leaders are coming together to rally for their communities,” said Rand Wentworth, the Alliance’s president. “The nearly 1,800 land conservation experts attending Rally 2015 will leave with plans to preserve more of the land that provides the fresh air, safe food, clean water and special places that Americans need and love.”

Featuring more than 100 workshops and over a dozen seminars, Rally 2015 is the nation’s premier gathering for conservation leadership and training. Rue Mapp, the founder of Outdoor Afro and a member of the California State Park and Recreation Commission, will give the keynote address Oct. 9 on engaging new audiences.

Also at Rally 2015, the Alliance will honor Wentworth for his 14 years of service. He is expected to conclude his role as president in January 2016. Wentworth will receive special recognition Oct. 8 during a welcoming dinner where other individuals and organizations are celebrated.

“Rand has been a visionary and effective leader, helping to increase the pace, quality and permanence of land conservation in America,” said Laura Johnson, the Alliance’s board president. “It is rare for a leader to transform both an organization and entire charitable sector. But Rand has done so.”

Media is invited to attend Rally 2015 after registering with Joshua Lynsen, the Alliance’s media relations manager, at jlynsen@lta.org or 202-800-2239. Media may also inquire at the Sacramento Convention Center Complex’s registration area.

Interviews with Alliance principals and conference presenters can be arranged by request.
