Salt Lake City, UT -(AmmoLand.com)- The Mule Deer Foundation’s (MDF) conservation efforts will be featured in an episode of Shoot Straight TV airing this week on the Pursuit Channel (Dish Network Channel 393/Direct TV Channel 604).
Chad and Marsha Schearer, the hosts of Shoot Straight, joined MDF volunteers on a mule deer translocation project in February. Their experience with this project brought home the critical importance of mule deer conservation during their sons’ youth hunt in Montana.
“This show, doubling up for Mule Deer, focuses on Walker and Wyatt’s mule deer hunt here in Montana. But being on the MDF Board of Directors gives me a much broader perspective on what needs to be done for mule deer across the West,” commented Chad. “Marsha and I had the opportunity to join some of MDF’s incredible volunteers during an urban deer capture project. These deer are caught in suburban areas where they are causing damage and getting hit by cars, and MDF works with Utah’s Division of Wildlife to translocate the animals to a rural area that has great habitat but not enough deer. It’s a win-win and, as with so many conservation projects in our region, MDF is at the center of this important effort.”
Shoot Straight TV is an award-winning television show about hunting with the family. Chad, Marsha, Walker and Wyatt share their experiences in the field and provide tips to get more families out in the great outdoors. Doubling up for Mule Deer focuses on Walker and Wyatt’s deer hunt, but Chad and Marsha recognize that having healthy mule deer populations requires active involvement by passionate conservationists. By adding information about MDF and their on-the-ground conservation efforts, the show will shine a spotlight on all of the hard work that MDF’s thousands of volunteers put in each and every year.
The episode airs Monday September 19 at 3:30 pm ET, Tuesday September 20 at 6:00 am and 10:30 pm ET, and Friday September 23 at 5:30 pm ET on the Pursuit Channel (Dish Network Channel 393/Direct TV Channel 604).
