Mom arrested after baby shot in drive-by (VIDEO)

A 1-year-old baby is lucky to be alive after her crib was struck six times in a drive-by shooting in Port Richey, Florida, Sunday night.

The shooting occurred about 11:30 p.m. and left the home riddled with more than a dozen bullet holes. The baby was shot in the wrist and expected to survive and nobody else in the home was injured, but police say it was the mother’s actions that put the child in harm’s way in the first place.

“The truth is her 1-year-old was shot because of criminal activity that surrounds that house,” said Pasco County Sheriff Chriss Nocco, who noted the child’s mother, Linda Exline, is a documented gang member with a lengthy criminal history.

Exline and another person in the home was arrested on drug-related charges, and a third individual was arrested for a shooting that occurred just four days prior.

Exline’s two children were placed in protective custody, while a third child has already been permanently removed from the home.

Exline’s family maintains she is a good mother who is turning her life around. Nocco, however, indicated they are living in a fantasy world.
