A simple sign made by a U.S. soldier who served overseas proved more than country music singer Miranda Lambert could handle during a concert in Hartford, Connecticut, last week.

Less than 40 seconds into her hit song “The House That Built Me” Lambert paused when she saw the veteran’s sign.

“Really!?” she appeared to say in disbelief as she walked over to the soldier and took the sign for everyone to see.

It read, “3 Tours of combat… [your] voice is the last thing I listened to every night! Thank you!!!”

The gesture brought Lambert to tears, which she quickly wiped away before returning to the mic to finish the song. Moments later she shook her head and said, “I can’t do it,” still overcome with emotion.
