Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives passed the 500+ page public safety omnibus bill containing “universal background checks” and red flag gun confiscation, marking the proposals’ final passage through the Legislature.
In response, the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus issued the statement below:
“In the wake of these new laws, we are unwavering in our commitment to safeguarding the constitutional rights of our members and supporters,” said Rob Doar, Senior VP of the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus. “We will be closely observing the implementation of these laws and will review potential legal actions with our national partners because protecting law-abiding gun owners is our mission and our duty. We will not be dismayed or dissuaded by the passage of new legislation.”
“While we are disappointed that several Democrats in swing districts decided to break their campaign promises by voting for gun control legislation, the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus is proud that we were able to put a stop to the majority of the Governor’s radical gun control agenda, ” added Bryan Strawser, Chairman of the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus.
“By applying political pressure, providing resources to legislators, and working with national partners and local stakeholders, we were able to fight back and prevent unconstitutional measures like the defenseless storage mandate, magazine bans, and stripping the right to keep and bear arms from 18-20-year-old young adults from becoming law. ”
“The Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus remains steadfast in our mission to protect and expand Second Amendment rights in Minnesota while advocating for solutions to violent crimes that do not infringe on these rights. Now is the time to get involved to prevent further infringements and join the fight, ” added Doar.
