USA -(Ammoland.com)- Winners of the Consumers Energy-sponsored Wetland Wonders Challenge, hosted by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, received ultimate waterfowl hunting prize packages Friday, March 17, at the Shiawassee River State Game Area in St. Charles, Michigan.

To be entered in the drawing, participants had to hunt at three or more of the seven southern Michigan Wetland Wonders.

The seven winners of the 2016 Wetland Wonders Challenge are:

  • Robert John Dick of Holland.
  • Matthew Gross of Auburn.
  • John Krohn of Lansing.
  • Zachary Pellow of Petersburg.
  • Alek Poirier of Essexville.
  • Bruce E. Schuster of Saginaw.
  • Mike Scott of Belleville.

“Please tell me all my dreams are coming true,” said Krohn, when he was contacted about winning the Wetland Wonders Challenge. “This is awesome!”

Each lucky winner received a prize package worth approximately $1,500, including a 12-gauge shotgun, custom Zink duck and goose calls, premium Avian X duck and goose decoys, a field bag, other waterfowl hunting accessories and a “golden ticket,” good for one non-reserved, first-choice pick at a managed waterfowl hunt area for the 2017-18 season.

“This is the good prize,” said Pellow as he received his golden ticket. “I’m probably going to use it here, at Shiawassee River.”

Michigan’s Wetland Wonders include the seven premier managed waterfowl areas in southern Michigan: Fennville Farm Unit at the Allegan State Game Area, Fish Point State Wildlife Area, St. Clair Flats State Wildlife Area on Harsens Island, Muskegon County Wastewater Facility, Nayanquing Point State Wildlife Area, Pointe Mouillee State Game Area and Shiawassee River State Game Area.

Look for a new and improved Consumers Energy Wetland Wonders Challenge to begin in fall 2017 and continue through February 2018.

Next year’s contest, focusing on the managed waterfowl hunting opportunities at Michigan’s Wetland Wonders, will feature more chances to win. Learn more about the Wetland Wonders Challenge online.
