Majority of State Chief Executives Now Members of Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus
Washington, DC –-(Ammoland.com)- The bipartisan Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) recently added four new members, reaching the milestone of 29 member Governors, a majority of the 50 state chief executives.
The GSC is modeled after the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) in the U.S. Congress in Washington, DC, and the 38 states sportsmen’s caucuses that make up the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC).
“Although this Caucus is only a year old, having a majority of the nation’s Governors joining together in a common purpose of protecting and advancing sportsmen’s access to resources is a major accomplishment for our overall state program,” said Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation President Jeff Crane.
The GSC was launched July 17, 2009 to facilitate communication and information exchange between participating offices in support of legislation and regulations that promote and protect hunting, fishing and the shooting sports. The members of the GSC work closely with their respective state sportsmen’s caucuses in advancing sportsmen’s interests in the states.
“The CSF State Program, including the state legislative caucuses and the Governors has grown tremendously over the last few years, complimenting one another and making sure that sportsmen in their states have access to quality habitat,” said Bethany O’Donovan, Director of CSF State Programs.
The collective force of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses, and the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus, working closely with the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation, serves as an unprecedented network of pro-sportsmen legislators and chief executives that promote and protect the agenda of America’s hunters and anglers.
